Moon Himalaya Adventure is a government-registered Nepal trekking company founded in Kathmandu by two people who have spent their lives in the Himalayas. Since our founding, we have guided hundreds of trekkers, climbers, and expedition teams from across the world, from first-time walkers on the Ghorepani Poon Hill trail to seasoned mountaineers summiting peaks above 8,000 metres.
Our mission is simple: to share the breathtaking landscapes, warm culture, and genuine hospitality of Nepal with every traveller who walks through our door, and to make sure they leave with memories that last a lifetime.
Our Founders
Lachhuman Tamang, Co-founder and Lead Guide, has been working in trekking and high-altitude climbing in Nepal since 2001. Over more than two decades, he has guided groups across the Everest, Annapurna, Langtang, Manaslu, and Mustang regions, and led treks through the high passes of Tibet and Europe. His expertise spans everything from beginner-friendly day hikes to technical peak climbing above 6,000 metres.
Manisha Tamang, Co-founder and Operations Director, holds a Master’s degree in Adventure Tourism Studies, one of the few trekking professionals in Nepal with a postgraduate qualification in the field. She brings that academic foundation together with hands-on experience in tour management, client care, and cultural guiding. Manisha has personally escorted groups through Kathmandu’s UNESCO World Heritage sites and led tours to Chitwan, Pokhara, and the Solukhumbu region.
Together, Lachhuman and Manisha represent a combination that is rare in Nepal’s adventure tourism industry: deep field experience and formal professional training working as one. That combination is what shapes every trek, every itinerary, and every interaction our team has with clients.
Our Team
Moon Himalaya Adventure is built around a core team of experienced, certified guides, porters, and support staff, many of whom have worked with Lachhuman and Manisha for years. Every guide on our team is:
- Fluent in English and familiar with the needs of international travellers
- Trained in first aid and altitude sickness management
- Licensed by the Nepal Tourism Board and certified by TAAN (Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal)
- Deeply knowledgeable about the cultural and natural history of the regions they guide
We keep our group sizes small deliberately. A smaller group means more personal attention, a lighter footprint on the trail, and a richer connection with the communities and landscapes you travel through.
Our Approach: Responsible and Green Tourism
We are firmly committed to green tourism. We believe that without a healthy, preserved natural environment, there is no tourism worth having, and no Himalayas worth visiting. In practice, this means we follow Leave No Trace principles on every trek, work with locally owned tea houses and lodges wherever possible, and actively avoid routes and practices that contribute to overcrowding or environmental damage.
We also customise every itinerary to the individual group. Whether you are a solo traveller looking for a private guide, a family planning their first trek, or a corporate group seeking a team adventure, we build your trip around your fitness level, schedule, and interests, not a fixed template.
Giving Back: Bomzan Social Service Nepal
A portion of every trek and expedition booking with Moon Himalaya Adventure goes directly to the Bomzan Social Service Nepal, an organization that supports orphans, underprivileged children, and indigenous communities in the remote Solukhumbu region.
Each year, the foundation provides hundreds of students with school uniforms, bags, stationery, and sports equipment, giving children in some of Nepal’s most isolated communities the tools they need to stay in school and build a future. When you trek with us, you are not just investing in your own adventure. You are investing in the next generation of Nepali children.
