Moon Himalaya Adventure is a Nepal-based trekking and adventure company founded by Lachhuman Tamang and Manisha Tamang. We organize tours, trekking, peak climbing, Kailash and Tibet trips with a growing focus on private and customized travel.
Our approach combines experienced mountain leadership with careful planning, personal attention, and practical flexibility. Standard itineraries remain available, but for travelers who want something more personal, we can shape the journey around their time, experience, pace, interests, and preferred level of service.
What We Do Across Nepal and the Himalayas
Trekking in Nepal is at the heart of what we do.
We organize treks across major regions, including Everest, Annapurna, Langtang, Manaslu, Mustang, Kanchenjunga, and other parts of the Nepal Himalayas.
For travelers who want to go beyond trekking, we also organize peak climbing expeditions, where proper preparation, acclimatization, and experienced leadership become even more important.
Our work also extends to Kailash and Tibet, where we organize trips for pilgrims and other travelers.
Alongside trekking, climbing, and Kailash trips, we also organize tours within Nepal for travelers who want to experience the country’s cultural, religious, and natural places without taking on a longer trek or mountain trip.
Some travelers begin with one of our standard itineraries. Others come to us with only a destination, a number of available days, or an idea of the experience they want. In those cases, the itinerary becomes a starting point for building a more personalized journey.
The People Behind Moon Himalaya Adventure
Moon Himalaya Adventure was founded by Lachhuman and Manisha Tamang, who look after different parts of the company.
Lachhuman Tamang
Lachhuman Tamang has worked in Nepal's trekking and mountaineering industry for more than 20 years.
He began as a porter at the age of 13 and progressed through trekking and mountain guiding into professional mountain leadership, rescue, training and instruction. In November 2024, he became an International Mountain Leader recognized through the Nepal Mountain Leader Association and UIMLA.
His experience includes more than 300 treks, 150 climbing expeditions, and over 60 trips to Kailash.
At MHA's current stage, Lachhuman remains closely involved in the company and personally leads the trips MHA operates in the field. His mountain experience also continues to influence the way the company develops its itineraries and approaches leadership.
Manisha Tamang
Manisha co-founded Moon Himalaya Adventure with Lachhuman and helps manage the administrativeand operational side of the company.
She also has an academic background in adventure tourism, bringing another perspective to the work involved in organizing and managing the company.
Together, Lachhuman and Manisha combine the mountain and operational sides of MHA: the experience required in the field and the work required behind the scenes to plan and operate each trip.
How Moon Himalaya Adventure Began
Moon Himalaya Adventure grew from Lachhuman’s years of working in the mountains and gradually taking on more responsibility for organizing trips as well as guiding them.
After gaining experience planning trips himself, Lachhuman wanted to run trips through his own company, where the itineraries, services, and field decisions could be managed according to the standards he had developed through years of guiding. In January 2023, he and Manisha founded Moon Himalaya Adventure together.
The company name also has a personal meaning. “Moon” was inspired by Lachhuman and Manisha’s daughter Moon.“Himalaya Adventure” reflects the mountain world that has been central to Lachhuman’s career.
Bomzan Social Service
Our work is not limited to travel.
Moon Himalaya Adventure also supports Bomzan Social Service Nepal, a separate registered non-profit organization that provides practical school support to students in Solukhumbu.
The initiative currently works with 10 participating schools and reaches around 300–400 students each year with items including school uniforms, school bags, stationery and sports materials.
A portion of the profit MHA earns from its trips is contributed to Bomzan Social Service to help continue this work.
