  • A Journey etched into my soul

In the spring of 2025, I had the privilege of traveling to Nepal with a remarkable group of women—mature in age, but forever young in spirit. We were joined by a young man whose heart and energy matched ours perfectly. To call this a “trip of a lifetime” would be an understatement.

From the moment we arrived after a long 36-hour journey, we were embraced with overwhelming kindness by our hosts, Lacchu and Manisha of Moon Himalaya Adventure Pvt. Ltd. They greeted us at the Kathmandu airport with marigold garlands and traditional khatas—symbols of welcome, purity, and respect. Their warmth and sincerity were instantly evident, and it only deepened throughout the trip.

On our second day, Manisha guided us through a captivating tour of Kathmandu, where we explored stunning cultural sites including Swoyambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa and Durbar Square.

Day three brought us to Phaplu. Though the roads were rough and the journey long, our experienced driver and his assistant handled every challenge the rugged Nepali terrain threw at us with calm professionalism.

The accommodations—tea houses, lodges, and local homes—offered authentic experiences reflective of the regions we traveled through. Immersed in the culture, we cherished every single moment.

Trekking from Phaplu to Pikey Peak was emotionally profound. At any given time, I felt excitement, fear, joy, disbelief, pride, humility, love, and deep camaraderie. Our guides—Lacchu, Ram, Dorje, and Pema—were beyond extraordinary. Their patience, compassion, and attentiveness kept us going when we felt tired, unwell, or emotionally overwhelmed. At times, when we couldn’t carry ourselves, they did.

At the lodges, our chef Nema and his team ensured we were nourished with delicious, hearty meals that kept us energized for the challenging treks ahead. The food was always exactly what we needed—simple, nourishing, and prepared with care.

Our porters were equally incredible. After hauling our duffel bags to the next destination, some would return to meet us along the trail, ready to assist if we needed help or encouragement. Their support was quiet but unwavering.

After our Pikey Peak descent, we spent four unforgettable days visiting villages like Jhapre, Gorakhani, and Shishalola. We engaged with local communities, participated in school sponsorship activities, played, sang, and danced with children, and even joined a Nepali dance party under the stars. One village gave us a heartfelt sendoff that I’ll never forget. My heart was overflowing.

From UNESCO heritage tours to breathtaking mountain ascents and heartfelt cultural exchanges, the memories I gathered on this trip are etched into my soul. Thanks to Moon Himalaya, I was able to experience places and emotions I never imagined possible.

I received 52 khatas on this trip—each one a symbol of welcome, goodwill, or farewell. They are more than fabric; they are tangible reminders of love, community, and connection. Treasured keepsakes for life.

Moon Himalaya Adventure isn’t just a tour company. They don’t simply take you from point A to point B. They offer what you want and also what you didn’t know you needed. They wrap you in care, introduce you to real Nepali life, and immerse you in something truly extraordinary. Their attention to detail, warmth, and authenticity offer a kind of “magic” that no itinerary can ever fully describe.

Thank you, Lacchu, Manisha and team for the journey, the memories, and the love. You are forever in my heart.

  • Incredible trek to Pikey Peak summit

We were a group of 14 people, once we arrived Moon Himalaya were there to pick us up. We had a lovely dinner with both Manisha and Lachhu to go over our adventure. I have never done anything like this so it was nice that they were able to explain what to expect.
The following day Manisha took us on a city tour of some of the main attractions, she is very knowledgeable and answered so many questions. The following days proved to be so amazing even better than I could possibly imagine. There was a team of 18 that was responsible for us. They were so extremely diligent in looking after all our needs from clean water, snacks, meals and moving all our luggage. They knew what we needed before we did.
Nema was our chef, let’s just say the food was fabulous, we did have a few people with dietary restrictions in which the cooking team managed with ease.
Our guides were so attentive, inspirational and so much FUN. The Pikey peak tour that we were on is a less traveled tour but I felt like we were immersed in the culture. The route that Lachhu and his team took enable us to meet locals and visit schools that Moon Himalaya’s foundation supports. We met in villagers homes, dressed in cultural dress ware, we danced. Thank you Pema for inviting us into your home.
The kids at the schools and villages were so happy to meet us, we were able to play games and sing songs.
Moon Himalaya Adventures made every step so easy, from packing to places to stay. Climbing to the summit of Pikey Peak was truely amazing but meeting the team that Lachhu and Manisha have built was incredible. We all left feeling like we have a Nepal family.
This adventure was a first for me but definitely not my last.
Thank you Lachhu, Manisha, Ram and team

  • Pikey Peak Adventure

I recently participated in a trek to Pike Peak in Nepal, organized by Moon Himalaya. Our group of 14 was incredibly well looked after from start to finish. The porters, guides, water team, and chef were all outstanding—every need was met with care and attention.

The pace of the trek was well-managed, and whenever any issues arose, there was always someone ready to help. Beyond the physical journey, we were fortunate to experience the rich local culture, meet kind-hearted people, and stay in some truly beautiful villages.

It’s hard to put into words just how amazing this trip was. Moon Himalaya exceeded all expectations, and I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone considering a trekking adventure in Nepal. I’m already looking forward to my next trek with them.

  • Moon Himalaya Adventures were absolute professionals!

Our group scaled Pikey Peak in the Himalayas on a 10 day trek. At the summit of Pikey Peak, above the clouds, we could see 7 of the 8 tallest mountains in the Himalayan's, including Everest. Awe inspiring does not describe the feeling of cresting the summit at sunrise to see the majestic mountains. The journey took us through incredible forests of rhodedrum, country side trails, and through terraced farming villages. We were hosted in tea houses and lodges, which gave us an appreciation of the rustic life style of the local people.

Our guide Lachhu, was a treasure. He has years of experience leading groups and has done Everest rescues without extra oxygen up to 8000 m. His vast experience made it possible for him to anticipate problems with the group and he assessed individual reactions to altitude and fatigue, providing support as needed.

What made this trip so very special is his contact with the people in the communities we visited. When we visited the Thuptenchholing Gumba Monastry, we were honored with a visit with the Lama, who was reincarnted 34 times. We also had a street dance with the local people in one of the villages. It was Lachhu's high regard in the community that made these and many more unique experiences possible.

Lachhu is also part of a Fondation that makes donations that supports three of the mountain schools. We were able to visit the schools and were treated as honored guests.

We started the trip with an airport pick in Kathmandu. Moon Himalayan offered a city tour in their capital before and after the trek. Our guide took us to UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Swoyambhunath temple and Kathmandu Durbar Square. Our guide was friendly and kind as well as experienced and informative.

The last thing I want to mention is the Moon Himalayan team's efforts to deal with challenging dietary restrictions. They did an amazing job accommodating us while preparing meals for the entire group.
The trip was something I will always remember. The summit was extraordinary but the cultural experience was also very special.
