Bomzan Social Service

Bomzan Social Service Nepal is a registered non-profit organization supporting students in Solukhumbu with basic school needs since 2011. Today, the initiative supports students across 10 participating schools, reaching around 300–400 students each year.

The support includes school uniforms, school bags, stationery, and sports materials. What began with a small distribution of notebooks and pencils at one school has gradually grown to reach more schools and students across the area.

Why Bomzan Social Service Began

For Lachhuman Tamang, the connection to this work goes back to his childhood. Growing up in Gorakhani, he experienced how difficult it could be to attend school without basic things such as proper school clothes, a school bag, and stationery. He has said that these challenges affected his education.

Back in 2015, Bomzan Social Service during a school materials distribution program.

That experience stayed with him. He did not want children from his community to face the same difficulties, so he began supporting students with practical school needs. The first support was small: a few notebooks and pencils provided to students at Shree Shishakhola Basic School.

Over time, that small beginning grew into what is now Bomzan Social Service Nepal.

From a Few Notebooks and Pencils to Ten Schools

After the first distribution at Shree Shishakhola Basic School, Bomzan Social Service gradually extended its work to other schools in Solukhumbu. Shree Gorakhani Basic School and Shree Jana Chetana Basic School were among the next to receive support.

The expansion continued over time, and Bomzan Social Service now works with 10 participating schools in Solukhumbu.

What Bomzan Social Service Provides

Bomzan Social Service focuses on practical items that students use in their everyday school life. The support currently includes school uniforms, school bags, stationery, and sports materials.

The aim is simple: to help make sure students in the participating schools have these basic materials available for their education and school activities.

How the Support Is Organized

Each year, the participating schools send student measurements to Bomzan Social Service so that school uniforms can be ordered in the correct sizes. Once the uniforms and other materials are prepared, they are transported to the schools for distribution.

Lachhuman personally visits the schools during the distribution, meets the students, and hands the materials directly to them.

The initiative also provided sanitary supplies to the local health post during the pandemic.
